Rules for Holy Living

Pride defined as

1. proud or disdainful behavior or treatment

2. to indulge (as oneself) in pride

3. Ostentatious display

Lately I’ve allowed my pride to get the best of me, and I didn’t even realize that I have formed this subconscious of having better than the next person and judging them on the spot, the enemy has been working inside of me, and I never realized it. I have lost my focus on what’s most important, but I’m beginning to catch my faults with the help of my father and gaining new sight. The father revealed to me today, Colossians 3:12-14

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Paul definitely knew what he was talking about when he wrote this, and I was able to reflect on this passage and realize that we all have our faults and none of us are perfect, but as we walk this journey of life we need stick together and love each other compassionately, and unconditionally, no matter how much someone bugs us or how much you want to prove the other person wrong. God wants us to be able to lean on each other when we struggle or suffer, so don’t let your pride get the best of you! C.S. Lewis once wrote,  ”As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down you cannot see something that is above you.”
